The United Kingdom will provide over $150 million in funds to Rwanda per the deal. In exchange, Rwanda will accommodate the illegal immigrants entering the United Kingdom. This is the first instance of a European country diverting illegal immigrants to an African country in this manner.

British opposition parties, the United Nations, and the leftist groups had bitterly opposed the deal. Some British groups filed a petition challenging the deal. The verdict on the petition was delivered on Friday. Judge Jonathan Swift warned while dismissing the petition that the Home Minister is free to execute the plan regarding illegal immigrants. As per the plan of the British government, the first batch of illegal immigrants will be sent to Rwanda on the 14th of June.
