Taliban’s aggression at the Durand Line has shaken Pakistan

Pakistani analysts are claiming that the Taliban aggression poses a national security threat. However, the Pakistani government and military are not giving much importance to the incidents that occurred at the Durand Line. Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that the issue has been discussed with the Taliban and some mischievous elements are unnecessarily raising the dispute.

Last year in August, Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan had congratulated the Taliban after the Taliban took over the reins of Afghanistan. Prime Minister Imran Khan had announced that Taliban has broken the shackles of slavery and Afghanistan under Taliban has been freed from the slavery of the United States. Senior journalists from Pakistan had criticised the announcement made by Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan, who openly supported the Taliban violence.

Pakistani journalists are reminding Imran Khan of his statements. These journalists have sarcastically taunted Prime Minister Imran Khan that it seems that the Taliban is free from the slavery of Pakistan in the current situation. The Pakistani media are expressing grave concerns about the brewing situation due to the foreign policies of the Imran Khan government.

Two days ago, there was a confrontation between the Afghan and Pakistani military at the Nangarhar border in Afghanistan. The Taliban uprooted the fencing pillars erected by the Pakistan military. The Pakistan soldiers helplessly watched the Taliban’s actions. In another incident, the Pakistani soldiers were seen pleading with the Taliban commanders who had come to uproot the fencing.

But the Taliban commander did not pay any heed and ordered the destruction of the fencing. There have been five such incidents in the last two weeks.

Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi expressed concerns over the reports coming from the Durand Line. Qureshi also said that the issue has already been discussed with the Taliban leadership. Qureshi tried to cover up, saying that some people are resorting to these tactics to spoil the relations between Pakistan and Taliban.

The Taliban spokesman asserted that the issue of the Durand Line is still not resolved and the fencing dividing the Pashtun population is not acceptable. Therefore, concerns are being expressed in Pakistan that in the times to come, the Taliban will uproot the fencing on the Durand line and extend its border till Atak in Pakistan.
