The Taliban’s victory is being hailed in Pakistan after the reports of the Taliban surging ahead in the war in Afghanistan. However, by showing that it does not support the Taliban, a picture is being painted by Pakistan that it is not responsible for the violence in Afghanistan. Prime Minister Imran Khan took a similar stance in the interview with a US news channel. However, Imran Khan claimed that the Taliban were civilians and not a terrorist organization.

Imran Khan said an all-inclusive government with the participation of the Taliban was the best way to solve the Afghanistan problem. In other words, Imran Khan wants to say that the Afghan problem will not be solved unless a Taliban-dominated government is established. However, while suggesting that the Afghan issue could be resolved through political negotiations, Imran Khan has not called on the Taliban to stop the violence. Also, the unacceptable demands of the Taliban are the biggest hurdle in these political negotiations, which the Prime Minister of Pakistan is unwilling to address.

Prime Minister Imran Khan is trying to defend his country’s terrorist policies by blaming US policies for the Afghanistan crisis. But Pakistan’s support for the Taliban is being taken serious cognizance of by the international community. In particular, former US military officials, diplomats and analysts have blamed Pakistan’s betrayal for the success of the Taliban in Afghanistan. This is why the United States failed in Afghanistan; US Congressmen have demanded to teach Pakistan a lesson – the one responsible for it.

The United States is currently embroiled in its internal strife; the Biden administration has not paid enough attention to foreign policy. That is why Pakistan has been saved so far, said an American political activist of Pakistani descent in an interview with a journalist. By fully supporting the Taliban, Pakistan has shifted its policies in favour of China. An American political activist of Pakistani descent expressed concern that the US would force Pakistan to pay a heavy price today or tomorrow. At the same time, Manzoor Pashtun, the Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM) leader, slammed Pakistan for its support to an extremist organization like the Taliban. Repercussions of the decision to cooperate with the Taliban are already apparent in Pakistan, with journalists and social activists reporting an increase in atrocities and crimes against women by extremists.
