Washington/Beirut/Moscow: A US news agency has claimed Russia has been recruiting Palestinians from Lebanon camps for the campaign in Ukraine. The American news agency said a member of the embassy of Palestine in Lebanon and the pro-Iranian Hezbollah organisation took the initiative. So far, more than 300 Palestinians have been trained in Russia and deployed, the report noted. Last year, US media reported that the Wagner Group, a private military contractor based in Russia, recruited Afghan commandos, part of Afghanistan’s National Army.

Young people from Ain al-Hilweh, the largest Palestinian camp in Lebanon, have been involved in this. Most youths were said to be members of Fatah and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) in Palestine. Besides, Lebanese sources have informed that those with skills in operating drones and the ability to fight Guerrilla warfare in urban areas were preferred.

So far, 300 Palestinians have received training in Russia and deployed on the Ukrainian front. Besides, the American news agency also claimed that a contingent of 100 people was ready in the Ain al-Hilweh camp. Furthermore, The Media Line has said that apart from the Palestinians, the soldiers of the Syrian Army have also been inducted into the Russian Army.
