New head of Al Qaeda is in Iran, says a special report by United Nations -

New York: Osama bin Laden’s bodyguard and trainer of the terrorists behind the 9/11 attacks on the US, Sayf al-Adl, has become the new head of Al Qaeda. The United Nations has claimed in its special report that Sayf was chosen as the head of Al Qaeda after Ayman al-Zawahiri was killed in a US airstrike last year. The United Nations is also drawing attention to the fact that this new head of Al Qaeda is hiding in Iran, and his photograph was found a few days ago.

In August last year, the US launched a drone attack on a building in Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan. The US claimed that Ayman al-Zawahiri, who took over the leadership of Al-Qaeda after the death of Osama bin Laden, was killed in the attack. Al Qaeda and the ruling Taliban in Afghanistan initially denied these claims. But within days, the Taliban also admitted that Zawahiri had been killed in a drone strike. Since then, Al Qaeda has not announced the main leader of its organization.

During this period, the names of various terrorists came up for the top post of Al Qaeda. But Al Qaeda never made an official announcement about it. The US also avoided commenting on this. In such circumstances, according to a report released by the United Nations, Sayf al-Adl has been designated by Al Qaeda as its leader. The report said Sayf al-Adl had changed his location after US Marines killed bin Laden in operation in Abbottabad, Pakistan. It is difficult to say where the new head of Al Qaeda is currently. However, according to the clarification given by US intelligence agencies, Sayf’s last destination was Iran. US intelligence agencies also released Sayf’s photo in Iran. Even so, some analysts claim that it would be difficult for a Shiite country like Iran to shelter the head of Al Qaeda.
