Israel is closely watching the nuclear talks which began in Vienna last week. Iran, which has participated in the negotiations, adopted an aggressive stance. Iran has demanded that there should be new discussions on the issues in the 2015 nuclear deal. Last week, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken criticized this Iranian stand. Blinken also accused Iran of not being serious about the nuclear deal. But the United States has made it clear that it will not withdraw from negotiations for the nuclear deal.

Israel is expressing its displeasure over the ongoing efforts by the United States and Iran to revive the nuclear deal. Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett issued a new warning to Iran following a Security Council meeting on Sunday. Over the past few years, Iran has violated the 2015 Nuclear deal by increasing its uranium enrichment and the number of centrifuges. Prime Minister Bennett has warned Iran to be ready to pay the price for this. But Prime Minister Bennett declined to comment on whether Iran would have to pay the price in the form of sanctions or military action.

The Israeli prime minister criticized the United States, which has been involved in the talks, for not taking a hard line against Iran. In the last four days, Israeli leaders have attacked the United States for the second time over the Vienna talks. Two days ago, David Barney, head of the Israeli intelligence agency Mossad, warned that Israel would not tolerate any bad nuclear deal with Iran.

Earlier, during his visit to Europe, Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid had said that Iran’s nuclear program could be stopped only on the strength of sanctions and fear of military action. The Israeli foreign minister had hinted that the US Biden administration was falling short on both counts. Israeli media claimed that Prime Minister Bennett has further clarified the Israeli position in this regard.

Meanwhile, the United States should impose tough economic sanctions on Iran. Israel has also demanded that the option of military action against Iran be left open. But the Biden administration has already ruled out military action against Iran. The Biden administration’s stand caused an increase in the distrust regarding the United States in Israel and the Arab allies.
