Lethal Bioweapons can be built using Human DNA

Washington: US congressman Jason Crow warned that bioweapons could be built by acquiring the DNA of any person. The person can be assassinated using this bioweapon. He also warned that the DNA bioweapons could be used to target food grain supplies and food security. The Aspen Security Forum meeting concerning security, held in the United States the last week, drew attention to the issue of bioweapons.

Over the last few years, the popularity of DNA testing has been increasing in the United States and many people from the younger generations are using this. Jason Crow pointed out that many companies from the private sector are providing these services. Crow warned that the US public should avoid this blanket use of DNA testing and should not be careless about it. The Congressman warned that the entire health-linked information of the person could be extracted from the DNA. This can be used to build bioweapons to kill or disable the person.

Moreover, Crow mentioned the company ’23andMe’ at this time. The DNA becomes the company’s property if the test is done to find specific information and the DNA is sent to such companies. Crow pointed to the threat that this company is entitled to sell the DNA or the information contained in it to anyone without any legal bindings. The company ’23andMe’ mentioned by the Congressman has refuted the accusations. The company has been exposed to providing health-related information to the police and other security agencies.

Following Crow, US Senator Joni Ernst also issued a warning over bioweapons. Ernst warned that the adversaries of the United States could comprehensively target the food supplies using bioweapons built on DNA. Bioweapons can be used to target the most consumed animal in a city. Senator Ernst said that not only humans but even food could be targeted using bioweapons and the time has come to take serious cognisance of the issue.

Last year, US Senator Marco Rubio raised the issue of Russian and Chinese laboratories being involved in DNA testing of US citizens. Rubio had also warned that there is a fear of the genetic information of the US citizens falling into the hands of the Chinese communist regime, given the policies of the US government.
