Severe repercussions after abduction of Afghan Ambassador’s daughter; Afghanistan summons Pakistan Ambassador

Kabul/Islamabad: – The abduction of Silsila, the daughter of Najibullah Alikhil, Afghan Ambassador to Pakistan, has had severe repercussions. On Saturday, the Afghan government angrily issued a summons to the Pakistani Ambassador. The Afghan people were outraged too. They expressed their anger by protesting outside the Pakistani embassy in the capital Kabul. Afghan women lawmakers have sent a scathing letter to the Pakistani parliament, accusing that the abduction of the Ambassador’s daughter is a violation of diplomatic code.

Silsila Alikhil, the 26-year-old daughter of Afghan Ambassador Najibullah Alikhil, was abducted on Friday afternoon while returning home from a supermarket. She was released a few hours later. But before that, Silsila was tortured. Silsila was rushed to the hospital after his release. The incident has had severe repercussions, and the Afghan government has taken an aggressive stance in this matter. On Saturday afternoon, the Afghan government issued a summons to Pakistan’s Ambassador to Afghanistan, Mansoor Ahmed Khan. An official complaint of Silsila Alikhil’s abduction was lodged at this time. At the same time, strong protests were registered over the incident. Afghanistan has issued a stern warning to Pakistan over the safety of Afghan diplomats and their families.  

Women members of the Afghan parliament have also taken an aggressive stance on the issue of abduction and torture. The lawmakers sent a letter to the Pakistani parliament condemning the incident. Afghan women parliamentarians reminded the Pakistani parliament that the abduction violates diplomatic code. The letter said that if Pakistan wants to sever ties with Afghanistan, there are universal protocols. The letter also called on Pakistani lawmakers to put pressure on their agencies. The abduction and torture of a girl child has been described as an attack on human rights by Afghan women parliamentarians.  

The Afghan people are angry with Pakistan after the abductions of Silsila. On Sunday, Afghan citizens staged violent protests outside the Pakistani embassy in Kabul. Strong slogans were given against the government of Pakistan at this time. The Afghan government is preparing to raise the issue of abduction with the United Nations. A high alert has been issued to the Indian embassy and high commissioner’s offices in Pakistan following the kidnapping of the daughter of an Afghan ambassador.  

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Interior Minister, Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, has assured that the case of abduction of Ambassador Najibullah Alikhil’s daughter will be resolved within 72 hours. Sheikh Rashid Ahmed also said that the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan, had given instructions in this regard. However, the abduction has once again left Pakistan embarrassed on the international level. Journalists in the country have lamented that this has tarnished Pakistan’s image.
