Afghan President reprimands Pakistan military Chief

Kabul: – Pakistan was under the impression that it will be able to dominate Afghanistan, after mediating the peace deal between the United States and Taliban. But Afghan President Ashraf Ghani has delivered a tight slap across Pakistan’s face. President Ghani reprimanded the Pakistan military chief ‘India and Afghanistan are firm on not allowing the use of their territory for any activities against each other or any other country. An opportunity for unrestricted cooperation with India has been created due to this resolve.’ President Ghani gave this information himself, during a function.

Pakistan Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa recently visited Afghanistan. During the visit, General Bajwa held discussions with Afghan President Ashraf Ghani and Special Executive Offices Abdullah Abdullah. The visit of the Pakistan Army Chief was unannounced. Not many details of the visit have been made public. It is becoming evident that the visit was against the background of the peace process, started in Afghanistan and the talks between the Afghan government and Taliban. The Afghan President gave the information regarding the discussions, with the Pakistan Army Chief, during a recently concluded international teleconference. India and Afghanistan concur on not allowing the use of their territories against each other. He said that he told General Bajwa the this has opened up enormous opportunities for cooperation with India. In other words, the Afghan President conveyed a message to General Bajwa that there are a lot of limitations on the Afghanistan-Pakistan cooperation as the Pakistan territory cannot be used against Afghanistan and that is not the situation.

Pakistan is desperate to reduce the influence that India has created by strengthening Afghanistan’s democratic progress, making investments of nearly $2 billion. Pakistan is trying to hamper the Indian interests in Afghanistan, using the credit it received for mediating, in the talks between the United States and Taliban. There is a dense possibility that this was the purpose of the Pakistan Army Chief’s visit to Afghanistan. But the Afghan President made General Bajwa frankly aware of the situation. At the same time, the Afghan President has announced the intentions of his country regarding India, to the world. India expects a stable, democratic and prosperous Afghanistan. India is making investments of billions of dollars for this purpose. Whereas, Pakistan wants to hand over the reins of Afghanistan to the Taliban. Pakistani logic behind this is that if Afghanistan comes under Taliban control, it can be used for terrorist activities against India. As per the statesmen and analysts, in the current scenario, Pakistan will not be able to use Afghanistan against India. Now, even the Afghan President seems to have reprimanded the Pakistan Army Chief.
