Western sanctions against Iran and Russia violate regulations, criticises Russian Foreign Minister

Moscow: – Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov criticised, ‘The sanctions imposed by the western countries against Russia and Iran violate international regulations, as these sanctions directly target the populations of Russia and Iran. The Russian and Iranian stand regarding the sanctions is the same.‘ This was the Russian reaction after the United States and its allies announced fresh sanctions against Russia. Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian visited Russia and met Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. The United States and European countries have reached the final stages for signing the nuclear deal with Iran. It is claimed that the deal may be announced at any time. But the United States and European countries have imposed harsh sanctions against Russia, who also is a party to the deal, in the last 20 days.

Russia warned a few days ago that these sanctions imposed by the United States and its allies against Russia over the Ukraine war would prove detrimental to the Iran nuclear deal. After that, Iran too adopted a more adamant stand regarding the agreement. The United States had warned that Russia should not link the sanctions to the Iran nuclear deal.

In this scenario, the Iranian Foreign Minister visited Russia on Tuesday. Russia had demanded that the United States and its allies give an assurance that Russia will not have any restriction in assisting the Iranian nuclear program once the deal is signed.
