Russia will perpetually oppose US sanctions against Iran: Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov

Moscow: The United States imposed sanctions against a Russian company accusing it of assisting the Iranian missile program. Russia, agitated with the US action, announced that Russia would be perpetually opposed to the US sanctions against Iran. At the same time, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov declared that Russia and Iran would device new methods to bypass the US sanctions.

The United States and the big three European countries Germany, France and the United Kingdom criticised that Iran is implementing its nuclear and missile programs, in violation of international regulations and the nuclear deal signed in 2015. The US treasury department, imposed sanctions against five Russian and Chinese companies, linked to the Iranian missile program. The US treasury department also announced that tougher sanctions would be imposed against Iran in the coming times.

China has already criticised the US sanctions. Whereas, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, while talking to the Iranian media, clarified that these sanctions would not affect the transactions between Russia and Iran. Lavrov clarified that Russia would continue to oppose the US sanctions even in the future. At the same time, Foreign Minister Lavrov said that Russia is making efforts to bypass the US sanctions and increase cooperation with Iran.

Lavrov said that the bilateral trade between Russia and Iran increased by 8% in the first six months of this year.

Russia has already stopped dollar-based transactions, to bypass the US sanctions. The Russian Foreign Minister said that it became easy to transact with Iran because of the use of national currency and new innovative systems for financial transactions. At the same time, saying that these western countries imposing sanctions cannot be trusted and instead it is better to trust countries following the international regulations, Foreign Minister Lavrov cautioned Iran, who is proposing fresh negotiations regarding the nuclear deal, to the United States and European countries.
