Iran adds 18 times more of Enriched Uranium to its stockpile – IAEA expresses concern

Vienna/Tehran: Iran is permitted to hold a stock of 300 kilograms of enriched Uranium as per the nuclear deal signed in 2015. But the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) revealed concerning information that till 15th May 2022, Iran had amassed a stock of 3,809.3 kilograms of enriched Uranium in its nuclear program. International analysts claim that this 18-fold increase in the Iranian stock of enriched Uranium violates the original nuclear deal signed in 2015. As per the IAEA report, these analysts are expressing fears that Iran has the necessary stock of enriched Uranium to produce nuclear weapons.

Uranium stocks in Iran getting enriched by 18 times - IAEA expresses concernIn 2015, the then US President Barack Obama took the initiative to sign a nuclear deal with Iran. Under the provisions of this deal, Iran was instructed to keep the stocks of enriched Uranium and the number of centrifuges under a specified limit. The western countries provided concessions from the sanctions and other assistance based on these conditions. But the new report of the IAEA reveals that Iran has blatantly violated the terms of the nuclear deal over the last seven years.

Uranium enriched up to 90% is necessary to produce a nuclear bomb. But it had been decided that Iran should keep the enrichment level only to 3.67%. But as per the inspection carried out by the IAEA, Iran has taken stock of 20% enriched Uranium to 238.4 kilograms. The IAEA has pointed out that Iran has also significantly increased the stock of 60% enriched Uranium. At the same time, the IAEA also complained that Iran did not give satisfactory answers to certain queries raised regarding the nuclear program. Therefore, international media are pointing out that the IAEA is indirectly accusing Iran of hiding facts regarding the nuclear program.

Meanwhile, international analysts claim that Iran has acquired the necessary Uranium stock in violation of the 2015 nuclear deal. A few days ago, Israeli Defence Minister Benny Gantz also accused Iran has reached very close to acquiring the materials required for producing a nuclear bomb. US analysts have warned that Saudi will not keep quiet if Iran acquires nuclear weapons.
