30 Chinese warplanes intrude into Taiwanese airspace

Taipei: 30 warplanes of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army intruded into the Taiwanese airspace on Monday. Taiwan dispatched its fighter jets to expel the Chinese aircraft that had entered Taiwan’s Air Defence Zone. Because of this, tension reigned high in the region for a few hours. After 24 hours of the Chinese intrusion, senior US Senators visited Taiwan. Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen announced that the US administration is considering a proposal to establish cooperation between US National Guard and the Taiwanese military.

On Monday, the intrusion by 30 Chinese warplanes into the Taiwanese Air Defence Zone becomes a part of the same plan. The fleet contained 20 Chinese fighter jets. Taiwan dispatched its fighter jets in retaliation for this Chinese bullying. Taiwan also activated its air defence systems. After that, the Chinese warplanes left the Taiwanese airspace. The United States accused only last week that China is increasing tension in the sector with such inciting activities.

Just 24 hours after the Chinese intrusion, US Senator Tammy Duckworth reached Taiwan on Tuesday. She held a meeting with the Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen. Discussions were held on strengthening cooperation with Taiwan in the economic, diplomatic and security sectors.

Following the meeting with Duckworth, the Taiwanese President gave indications of the new cooperation developing between the United States and Taiwan. President Tsai announced that the partnership between the US National Guard and the Taiwanese military could be formalised soon. Information regarding the cooperation between the Taiwanese army and the US National Guard in Hawaii had also been published. The Hawaiian Islands in the Pacific Ocean are part of the United States.
