India should be careful while dealing with US on strategic issue - Former Army Chief General Bikram SinghFormer Army Chief General Bikram Singh spoke at the SBI Banking and Economic conclave held in Mumbai on Thursday. General Bikram Singh was the army chief of India from May 31, 2012 to July 31, 2014. Speaking on this occasion, citing the policies of the United States, the former army chief pointed out that the United States has not been a reliable partner country. The US started the Vietnam war and then withdrew from this war. After that, the US has withdrawn its troops from Iraq twice. General Bikram Singh said that the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan is the latest example.

Moreover, General Singh also pointed out that the US has constantly been failing in military intervention missions abroad, because the US has been outsourcing these tasks. As a result, the United States cannot be mentioned as a reliable ally, even for its closest allies. It is a good thing that India is also included in the Quad organization along with the United States, Japan and Australia. But considering the reputation of the US, it is better for India to show caution while dealing with the US at the strategic level, the former army chief has advised.

Analysts around the world are also making similar accusations against the US. Especially in the last few months, the US made decisions that would be dangerous for its closest partner countries, Israel, Saudi Arabia, UAE and other Middle East countries. At the same time, the US has forced its European allies to face fuel shortages by imposing sanctions on Russia, following the outbreak of the Ukraine war. The United States had increased pressure on European countries to boycott Russian fuel, knowing full well that the situation of European countries would worsen if they did not receive fuel from Russia during the winter.

Furthermore, the United States has not taken appropriate steps to protect Taiwan from China despite repeated demands from an ally like Japan. Since coming to power, US President Joe Biden has implemented policies that have hurt his country’s closest allies. Although the Biden administration has consistently claimed that there is no alternative to US cooperation with India, in reality the Biden administration had decided to assist Pakistan from time to time.

On the one hand, US President Biden, who claims that Pakistan is the most dangerous country in the world without control over nuclear weapons, announced a package for Pakistan’s F-16 fighter jets. Therefore, strategic analysts have already advised that India should maintain the balance of its foreign policy and deal with the US very cautiously.

Former Army Chief General Bikram Singh has also raised this issue before the Indian government and seems to have raised questions on the credibility of the US.
