A fierce conflict will ignite between the Pakistan army and Tehrik

Islamabad: Ongoing discussions between the Pakistan army and the Tehrik-i-Taliban (TTP) have fizzled over the past few weeks. The senior officers of the Pakistan army have indicated strict action against the terrorists after this. Pakistan army may soon take up a substantial operation against Tehrik terrorists in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KPK), Balochistan. Even as the Pakistani army’s movement for this has begun, the Taliban in Afghanistan have deployed guns and rocket launchers near Pakistan’s border.

A ceasefire was imposed between the Pakistan army and Tehrik militants for the past three months. But for the past few weeks, Pakistan and Tehreek militants have accused each other of violating the ceasefire. Leaders of Tehrik are alleging that the Pakistan army killed four senior commanders of Tehrik with the help of its agents in Afghanistan. These include Omar Khalid Khorasani, Mufti Hassan, and Hafiz Daulat Khan. Two days ago, Tehrik’s founder Abdul Wali’s son-in-law was killed in an explosion in the Paktika province of Afghanistan. The Tehrik alleged that the Pakistan army was behind the killing of all four of its commanders.

Besides, the Pakistan army holds the Tehrik responsible for the ceasefire violation. Pakistan army has alleged that Tehrik has begun reasserting its dominance in Pakistan’s Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan provinces in the past few weeks. Moreover, information has surfaced on social media that Pakistan army officers, from Jawan to Colonel posts, have been killed in the Tehrik attacks. But the Pakistan army, which does not disclose its losses in any conflict, has not revealed this.

The Pakistan army has ordered action against prominent Tehrik leaders in such a scenario. There are claims that the Pakistan army will take action against Tehrik terrorists in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan provinces for this. Local media say the change in leadership of the military command in the region by Pakistan’s army Chief over the past few days is indicative of this. But Pakistani journalists have drawn attention to the discontent among locals against the Pakistan army in both provinces, which could be the biggest challenge for this operation.

While the Pakistan army prepares to take action against Tehrik terrorists near the border, information surfaces that the Taliban is preparing to take action against the Pakistan army in Afghanistan. Afghanistan’s Defence Minister Mullah Yaqoob has ordered the deployment of guns and rocket launchers on the Durand Line. Photographs of the deployment near the Patan border in Paktia province of Afghanistan have been released. Afghan media say the deployment is in response to the Pakistan army’s aggression along the Durand Line.

Meanwhile, the US launched a drone strike in Afghanistan earlier this month that killed Al-Qaeda leader al-Zawahiri. There is an allegation that the Pakistan army has fully assisted the US in this operation in Afghanistan. Hence, discontent surges in the Taliban against Pakistan. Against this backdrop, the Taliban seems to have warned the Pakistan army by deploying such a large force near the Pakistan border.
