Afghan President warns Pakistan and Taliban

Kabul: US President Joe Biden announced that the US military would be withdrawn, from Afghanistan, on 11th September. But, as per the deal with Taliban, the United States should withdraw the military from Afghanistan by 1st May. Therefore, the Taliban has warned that this US decision violates the peace deal and the United States will be responsible for the consequences. While Taliban is issuing these threats, Afghan President Ashraf Ghani asserted that the Afghan government would not collapse after the US military withdrawal. Simultaneously, the Afghan President also lambasted Pakistan saying that Pakistan has to decide whether to stand with the Afghan government and people or with Taliban and the other extremist organisations.

Afghan President warns Pakistan and TalibanUS and NATO militaries will withdraw completely from Afghanistan on 11th September. This withdrawal will commemorate the 9/11 attacks in the United States. But Taliban has objected to the decision. The United States had agreed to withdraw the military before 1st May. Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid announced that until any foreign soldiers are present in Afghanistan, Taliban will not hold any talks whatsoever with anyone. Reports of four people being killed in an explosion in the Kandahar province of Afghanistan are being received. Therefore, indications are being received that the Taliban will start a new spate of attacks in Afghanistan. In this scenario, concerns are being expressed that if the US military withdraws from Afghanistan, this country’s government and the army will not be able to face the Taliban challenge.

Afghan President warns Pakistan and TalibanBut Afghan President Ashraf Ghani dismissed this claim. President Ghani expressed confidence ‘We respect the US decision to withdraw its military from Afghanistan. But the belief that the Afghan government will collapse after their withdrawal is completely unfounded. The 40,000 strong Afghan military and air force has been trained extremely well and they will face the challenges posed by Taliban.’ Afghan President Ghani clarified that, therefore, the Afghan government’s fear would collapse in front of the Taliban onslaught is completely unfounded. At the same time, President Ghani pointed out that Taliban has to choose between the paths of peace and violence.

While keeping the options of peace and bloodshed in front of Taliban, the Afghan President castigated Pakistan, the supporter of Taliban. President Ghani issued a stern warning ‘Pakistan has to choose whether it wants to go with the Afghan government and the people or wants to continue its support for Taliban and other extremist organisations. If Pakistan takes the self-destructive decision to continue supporting the Taliban and other extremist organisations, Pakistan, a neighbour of Afghanistan will also not escape the heat.
