European citizens have lost rights to their country, culture & family: Hungary PM Viktor Orban

Budapest: – Hungarian Prime Minister Victor Orban made crushingly criticised, ‘A situation has been created that the traditional social elements in Europe will be powerless. Ordinary European citizens do not have the right to decide who will live in their own country. The influx of illegal immigrants has shattered the identity of Europeans. The people of Europe do not have the basic right to decide their country, language, culture, family, and God.’

Besides, during and after 2015, Germany announced an ‘open door policy’ for refugees from the Middle East and Asia. Taking advantage of this, more than one million refugees infiltrated the European Union. It has adversely affected European culture and values, and Europe’s security is at stake. Leaders and analysts in various countries pointed out that Europe has not recovered from this crisis. The criticism made by the Hungarian Prime Minister also seems to be part of that.

A few days ago, the Court of Justice, which is part of the European Union, issued orders to Hungary on the issue of refugees. The order also directed Hungary to provide the immigrants waiting at the border. Hungary appealed against the decision in the country’s highest court. The court ruled that the Hungarian government should give priority to national interests. Prime Minister Viktor Orban has written an article supporting the ruling, posing an open challenge to the European Union.

Earlier, countries like Poland and the Czech Republic had also taken an open stance against the European Union on the issue of immigrants. Only a few months ago, Poland had challenged the provisions of the Union’s agreement. Severe repercussions of this had been felt in the Union. Moreover, warnings to block Poland’s finances and initiate other legal actions were also issued. While the case is fresh, Hungary has now openly challenged the Union. In addition to the refugee issue, relations with countries such as Russia and China and the issue of vaccination have been the points of contention between Hungary and the Union. Analysts claim that the frequent clashes signify that the Union’s unity is being undermined and that other member states may decide to withdraw, just like the United Kingdom.
