Coronavirus spread due to ‘lab leak’ in China’s Wuhan – US Energy Department reports

Washington: Over the last three years, the coronavirus has wreaked havoc worldwide and killed over 68 lakh people. Claims have been made earlier that the virus spread from wild animals. But the US Department of Energy refuted this ‘theory’. The US Department of Energy has concluded in its new report that the virus was created and spread in a biological laboratory. Although not directly mentioned, it suggests that China’s Wuhan laboratories may be responsible for the spread of this epidemic. While a section of the Biden administration has blamed a ‘lab leak’ for the spread of coronavirus, US National Security Adviser seems to have distanced himself from the report.

Coronavirus spread due to 'lab leak' in China's Wuhan - US Energy Department reportsThe report prepared by the US Department of Energy regarding the source of the coronavirus has been handed over to senior leaders in the White House and the US Congress. In this report, the US Department of Energy refuted its own claim about the origin of the virus. This new report from the US Department of Energy confirmed the report prepared by the head of US national intelligence agency in 2021 regarding the coronavirus. The US intelligence agency claimed that the virus was spread from China’s Wuhan laboratory two years ago. The US’s Wall Street Journal reported that the Department of Energy also asserted that the virus spread due to a lab leak.

The US Department of Energy is claimed to have provided some evidence in its report. The Department of Energy manages the maintenance of US nuclear weapons worldwide. At the same time, the Department of Energy handles a large network of laboratories and scientific research in the United States. Therefore, the American media has started claiming that the seriousness of the report prepared by this department regarding the source of Corona is more. The US Department of Energy has avoided blaming China for the apparent origin of the coronavirus. But the energy department clarified that such a possibility could not be ruled out.

But US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan refused to take a clear stance on the report. Sullivan said there was a difference of opinion among intelligence agencies about the source of the coronavirus. Also, Sullivan claimed that this report does not hold China directly responsible for the origin of the virus. “US President Joe Biden had ordered a comprehensive investigation to find out the source of the coronavirus. It was suggested to do in-depth research on this. But there is no consensus within the US investigative agencies,” Sullivan said, dismissing the charges against China.

Meanwhile, even earlier, the US agencies accused China’s Wuhan laboratory of spreading the coronavirus. Former US President Donald Trump referred to the coronavirus as ‘Wuhan virus’ and the ‘China virus’. Australia also blamed China’s Wuhan laboratory for this. China was blamed for keeping the world in the dark about the spread of the virus.
