China is preparing to attack Taiwan by organising war exercises, informs Taiwanese Foreign Minister

Taipei: Taiwan’s Foreign Minister Joseph Wu has indicated that China intends to change the dynamics of the Indo-Pacific region by attacking Taiwan, for which China is conducting air and naval military exercises around Taiwan. Foreign Minister Wu expressed concerns that the current Chinese threat to Taiwan has increased like never before. On Sunday, 66 Chinese fighter jets and 14 destroyers flew dangerously close to Taiwan’s border, substantiating Wu’s claims.

Foreign MinisterUS House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi visited Taiwan last week. To protest Pelosi’s visit, China staged live-fire drills at six locations around Taiwan. 11 anti-destructive Dongfeng missiles were fired, some of which flew over Taiwan’s airspace. Around 100 Chinese fighter and bomber planes flew close to Taiwanese airspace, as per some reports. Taiwanese Ministry of Defence has pointed out that on Sunday, 16 Chinese destroyers and 66 fighter jets came dangerously close to the Taiwanese border.

Taiwan responded to the Chinese intrusion with its fighter jets, destroyers, and missile systems. However, the Chinese military exercises are a matter of serious concern for Taiwan and the international community. During an interview with the US news media, Taiwan’s Foreign Minister Joseph Wu appealed for the international community’s attention towards the military exercises in China. The Foreign Minister of Taiwan has highlighted that China is preparing to attack Taiwan under the pretext of war exercises which will change the dynamic of the entire Indo-Pacific region. Foreign Minister Wu asserted that Taiwan would not retreat out of fear of the Chinese military activities in any eventuality.

Taiwan has also started live fire drills within its maritime borders. The Taiwanese army has confirmed that Taiwan’s guns will be blazing during the war drills on Tuesday and Thursday.
