China plans to build a network of 13 thousand satellites to compete against Elon Musk’s Starlink

Beijing: China has imposed fines against using Starlink Satellite Internet Network provided by Elon Musk’s company SpaceX. Last year, the Chinese military had ordered researchers to develop weapons against Starlink. Now China has decided to launch its own network of 13,000 satellites implemented by companies associated with the Chinese regime to end the influence of Starlink.

China plans to build a network of 13 thousand satellites to compete against Elon Musk's StarlinkMoreover, ‘SpaceX’ has launched nearly 3,000 small satellites into low orbit to provide high-speed internet services to every corner of the world. The ambitious plan is to launch nearly 40,000 small satellites for this project. Although this timeline is not fixed, Elon Musk has confirmed this to be work in progress.

In February, Russia attacked Ukraine and during this military campaign, the Russian defence forces destroyed the satellite communication and internet-providing system in Ukraine. Therefore, the Ukrainian military lost access to the satellite communication system. The US Department of Defence had instructed Musk to provide its Starlink network services to the Ukrainian military. For this, Musk has spent more than ten million dollars so far.

China plans to build a network of 13 thousand satellites to compete against Elon Musk's StarlinkMoreover, Starlink’s proven capabilities in the Ukraine conflict and its cooperation with the US Department of Defence have spooked China. Chinese researchers and military officials had expressed the possibility that Starlink would undermine its dominance in space. So now China has planned to launch 13 thousand satellites in space to compete with Starlink.

Hong Kong-based South China Morning Post informed that Shu Kan, a researcher at the Space Engineering University in China in conjunction with the China Satellite Network Group Company, will implement the plan.

A few months ago, there were reports that Russia tried to stop the service of Starlink by using jamming and cyber-attacks.
