Dubai: The British navy had detained an Iranian ship carrying advanced weapons for the rebels in Yemen at the beginning of this year. The British embassy in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) shared information regarding the action taken by the British navy in the Gulf of Oman. This endorses the claims that Iran is arming the rebels in Yemen to attack Saudi Arabia and UAE. This information revealed by the United Kingdom after the nuclear negotiations failed between the United States and Iran became noteworthy.

Moreover, Saudi jumped into the power struggle in Yemen in 2015 and launched attacks on the Houthi rebels. The Houthi rebels retaliated and the war continued for more than seven years. It is accused that Iran is backing the Houthi rebels and is funding and supplying weapons to them. Iran has consistently denied these allegations. The United States and European countries had not taken these allegations made by Saudi very seriously. The Yemenis rebels were omitted from the list of terrorist organisations after Joe Biden took over as the President of the United States. But the situation is changing now.

At the beginning of this year, the British Royal Navy detained an Iranian ship in the Gulf of Oman.
