Biden-Jinping talks were a mere farce – US Congress members criticise heavily

jinping-biden-talks-1Washington: – ‘Instead of questioning China on the Coronavirus pandemic, US President Joe Biden sat listening to China’s Jinping’s lecture. This discussion was just a farce,’ members of the US Congress have said. Biden had claimed that Taiwan was not at risk of an attack after the talks that took place on Monday. China’s state media reported President Jinping warned Biden that Taiwan was the ‘red line’. Therefore, Biden’s weakness has again been exposed and criticism is coming from within the United States.

jinping-biden-talks-3US President Joe Biden met China‘s President Xi Jinping in Indonesia on Monday. The media reported that the high-level delegation, including the two Presidents, had more than three hours of discussions at the meeting on the sidelines of the G20 Summit. The White House has said that Biden has argued that both the United States and China must handle the competition between each other in a proper way and keep the channels of dialogue open.

Although Biden raised issues like Taiwan, Xinjiang, Tibet, and the Russia-Ukraine conflict during the discussion, he avoided discussing the Coronavirus pandemic. Various agencies in the United States are constantly warning about the growing threat from China. Last month, senior US defence officials warned that China may attack Taiwan in 2023. However, Biden rejected this possibility and also said there is no need for a new cold war against China. There has been a strong resentment in the US political circles over this and the Republican leaders have castigated President Biden for this.

jinping-biden-talks-2US Congressman Michael Waltz criticised Biden and said, ‘I don’t know what the President has accomplished in his discussions with Jinping. Instead, Biden sat listening to a lecture by the Chinese President about the policies of the Communist Party. The US President took a stand against the Pentagon’s warning on the issue of Taiwan. At the same time, he did not raise the issue of Americans being killed in the Coronavirus pandemic, which originated in China. If we want to prevent further outbreaks, China will have to be held responsible for the Coronavirus pandemic.’

Republican member Lisa McClain said that if there was a discussion between Biden and Xi Jinping without even mentioning the Coronavirus pandemic, then this meeting was a mere farce. ‘This meeting is a new feather in Biden’s weak foreign policy. Now everything has gone beyond tolerance. It’s time for the United States to show its might at the international level,’ McClain warned.

British Prime Minister refuses to consider China a threat

rishi-sunak-1Bali: – British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak refused to admit that China is a ‘systematic threat’ to the United Kingdom. Sunak took a noncommittal stand on the proposal made by former British Prime Minister Liz Truss in this regard. ‘The position that China is a threat is consistent with the policy adopted by Britain’s partner countries. But China is needed to address many other challenges including climate change. In the wake of the G20, I will also try to communicate with the Chinese President,’ Prime Minister Sunak said. Leaders of Britain’s ruling party have expressed strong displeasure over Sunak’s statement.
