India using technology against poverty – PM Narendra Modi

Bengaluru:- India is using technology as a weapon against poverty. India’s technology and research are influencing the entire world. But the country’s future in this field will be brighter than the present. Because India has a talented youth and the necessary technology base is also available, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said. The Prime Minister expressed this belief while addressing the ‘Bangalore Tech Summit’.

modi_bengalurIn the ‘Global Innovation Index’, India, ranked 81st in 2015, has come down to 40th this year. In a year, the number of unicorns in India, i.e. the number of startups that have jumped to hundred crores, has more than doubled. India is emerging as the third-largest hub for startups. There are more than 81 thousand authorized startups in the country. At the same time, hundreds of international companies have shifted their development and research centres to India. The Prime Minister explained that all this is due to the talented youth available in India.

The Prime Minister pointed out that the mobile and data revolution is taking place in India and broadband connections in the country have increased to 81 crores in the last eight years. The number of people using smartphones has crossed 75 crores. Internet usage in rural areas is rising more than in urban areas and a large portion of the population is being connected to the information highway. Through this, India is democratizing technology and showing the world how to give technology a human touch. In India, technology has become a powerful tool for bringing equality and empowering the weaker sections, the Prime Minister also cited.

India successfully completed the world’s largest corona vaccination campaign through the Cowin app. Through the Ayushman Bharat Yojana, India has provided healthcare to around 20 crore families. Both of these were technology-based platforms. India is also far ahead on the front of online education. The Prime Minister further said that India is also emerging as a centre for courses taught through this medium.

The Prime Minister also made aware that many people could get online education when Corona came along due to the availability of internet services at a low rate in India.
