Awaiting government orders following Defence Minister's warning over POK - senior Army official declaresOn February 25th, 2021, the armies of India and Pakistan once again announced a joint ceasefire along the Line of Control. Due to the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan, the possibility of instability on Pakistan’s border with Afghanistan had increased. Thus, Pakistan Army has to focus more on this. Keeping this in mind, the Pakistan Army initiated a ceasefire with India on the Line of Control in Kashmir. Some strategic analysts had opposed this ceasefire imposed by the Indian Army on Pakistani demand, stating that it would benefit the Pakistan Army. But this ceasefire proved beneficial for the Indian Army. Lt. Gen. Aujla informed that taking advantage of this opportunity, the Army has increased its defence capability in the last twenty months.

Lieutenant General Aujla claimed that the Indian Army had increased its effectiveness to a great extent. Due to this, the Army successfully prevented infiltration from the Line of Control. Not only this, but the Indian Army is now fully prepared for any action and we are waiting for the government’s order. Army has prepared tremendously not only for conventional warfare but also for the front of advanced warfare. Lieutenant General Aujla raised Pakistan’s anxiety by saying that the preparedness of the Indian Army has reached such a level that there will be no need to retreat under any circumstances.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, while speaking at the Gallantry Day ceremony organized in Srinagar a few days ago, strongly criticized the atrocities showered by Pakistan on the Indian people in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. Defence Minister had said that Pakistan would have to pay the price for these atrocities. Moreover, Rajnath Singh had warned that the journey of development started by India in Jammu and Kashmir would not be complete unless it reached PoK and Gilgit-Baltistan. Besides, his utterances had an impact on Pakistan. Pakistan did not respond to Indian Defence Minister. Pakistani media is expressing regret that instead, Pakistani Defence Minister Khawaja Asif is feeling contended in criticizing Imran Khan.

Some strategic analysts of this country are claiming that India has made solid military preparations on the Line of Control in Kashmir and the Indian Army will launch a strike at any moment. In such a situation, the statements of Indian Army Chinar Corps Commander Lieutenant General Aujla are likely to cause a stir in Pakistan. Currently, Pakistan is facing serious economic and political crises, including inflation, unemployment and scarcity. Some Pakistani journalists and analysts are warning that India is looking at this chaos in Pakistan as an opportunity to seize PoK.

The people of PoK and Gilgit-Baltistan, who have suffered the actions of the Pakistan Army, were repeatedly seen chanting slogans in favour of India and against the Pakistan Army. This seems to have added more to Pakistan’s worries.
