Iran had already prepared for atom bomb in 2003, claims renowned US analyst

Washington: – Analyst David Albright and researcher Sarah Burkhard, from a renowned US think tank, warned, ‘Iran had prepared to conduct a Cold Test of the main parts of the Atom bomb by the end of 2003. Now Iran is only waiting for the availability of the required quantities of enriched Uranium and Plutonium. If the country succeeds in acquiring this, it will immediately be able to test the nuclear bomb. In that scenario, Iran can launch a nuclear weapon even from its destroyers.’

The Biden administration in the United States is making rapid moves to sign a nuclear deal with Iran. In this scenario, the US media is claiming that this warning issued by the analysts can exert pressure on the Biden administration. A book written by Analyst David Albright, President of the US think tank Institute for Science and International Security, and researcher Sarah Burkhard will soon be published. The book is titled ‘Iran’s Perilous Pursuit of Nuclear Weapons’.

In 2018, the Mossad chief had intruded into Iran and extracted documents and videos related to the Iranian nuclear program. After that, the Israeli Prime Minister presented all this information in front of the international media. Last month, the Mossad chief visited the United States and handed over the evidence to President Biden. The threat presented by Analyst David Albright and researcher Sarah Burkhard in their book is based on these very pieces of evidence.

These US analysts claim that Iran had acquired the technology and materials necessary to build nuclear weapons despite the Iranian claims. Seventeen years ago, this country had made preparations to conduct Cold Tests of the atom bomb, meaning testing without the atomic fuel. Iran would have been successful in this test as the Iranian scientists had acquired the requisite knowledge and skills for the purpose. Albright and Burkhard have written that Iran needed atomic fuel, like enriched Uranium or Plutonium, for this purpose.

The analysts have claimed in their book that if Iran can procure enriched Uranium or Plutonium in required quantities, it will not take a long time to test a nuclear weapon. If that were achieved, Iran would not depend on mobile launchers for launching ballistic missiles from land. Albright and Burkhard have warned that Iran can launch cruise missile tipped with a nuclear warhead, even from its destroyers.

In this scenario, it is futile to stop the manufacturing of ballistic missiles by Iran because Iran has other options available to launch nuclear weapons. Therefore, these analysts have advised that the International Atomic Energy Agency should prevent Iran from making a nuclear bomb. At the same time, Albright and Burkhard also criticised the laxity shown by the western countries regarding the Iranian nuclear program for the last few years.

Since the last one month, negotiations are being held in Vienna between the Biden administration and Iran regarding the nuclear deal. Reports have been received that the Biden administration is willing to relax the sanctions imposed against Iran to revive the 2015 nuclear deal. The Biden administration has completed preparations for this. Iran is not ready to discuss the nuclear program unless all the sanctions are lifted.

US lawmakers and countries like Israel and Saudi Arabia are upset over the soft stand taken by President Biden regarding Iran. A leading US newspaper claimed that the warning issued by the analysts, through the book, will add to the pressure on the Biden administration.
