Coronavirus cases in Maharashtra rise to 800; death toll reaches 45

Mumbai: On Monday, 13 people died due to the Novel Coronavirus in a single day. The number of deaths in the state of Maharashtra has therefore reached 45. Also, the Coronavirus cases in Maharashtra has risen to 800. On Sunday, the state had recorded 113 new cases while this number increased by 33 on Monday morning. In the past few days, the number of cases is rising rapidly in the metro cities of Mumbai, Pune and Nagpur. Almost 85% of cases were reported from these three metro cities. Among these, Mumbai records the highest number where the number of cases has reached 470.

The state health department informed that 33 new cases were reported in Maharashtra on Monday morning. Of these, 19 cases were from Pune, 11 from Mumbai and one each from Satara, Ahmednagar and Vasai. On Sunday, 113 new cases were reported from Maharashtra, of which 81 cases were from Mumbai. From the people that tested positive in the state, 60% were from Mumbai.  

New cases are being detected in Worli-Prabhadevi, Grant Road, Andheri and Dharavi areas of Mumbai. Worli has the highest number of cases, and the ward has recorded 58 cases. The Worli Koliwada area has been completely isolated and closed for citizens. Further, 33 infections were reported from Grant Road as well. Apart from that, 33 cases have also been found in the Dombivali area in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.  

The Wockhardt Hospital at Mumbai Central had to be sealed after, three doctors and 26 nurses tested positive for the new Coronavirus. A few days ago, two Coronavirus patients were admitted to the hospital, and they were revealed as the source of infection for the hospital personnel.
