Coronavirus declared as a national emergency

New Delhi/Mumbai: Following one more death because of Coronavirus, the Indian government declared Coronavirus epidemic as a national emergency. The number of patients in the country has reached 84. Whereas, the outbreak has claimed two lives till date. Nine more patients have been detected in Maharashtra, taking the total number of cases in the state to 26. The Maharashtra government has ordered the closure of schools and colleges till the 31st of March as a precautionary measure.

Grant of ₹400,000 has been announced to the kin of a person dying in the outbreak. At the same time, a decision has been taken to cancel important functions at the national level. These include the Padma awards distribution ceremony, various competitions and educational programs. Sanitiser and masks have been included in the essential items. Sanitisers and masks were being sold in the black market since the beginning of the coronavirus epidemic. This decision was taken to stop this black marketing.

Shocking reports of Coronavirus patients absconding from hospitals also are being received. In one such revelation, one woman from Bengaluru, who had been tested positive for the virus, escaped from Bengaluru and visited many places. Thereafter, the union government has appealed to the people of the country to take the epidemic more seriously. Even before this, incidents of Coronavirus patients absconding from the hospitals have been reported.

Ten patients have been completely cured of the virus till now. But it has been revealed that the 84 patients who have been confirmed had come in contact with nearly 4,000 people. The agencies informed that these 4,000 people are being tracked and placed under observation. At the same time, appeals are being made to take the necessary precautions to prevent the spread of the epidemic, and instructions regarding the same are consistently issued.

Meanwhile, the number of cases in the state of Maharashtra are increasing, and two new patients have been detected in Yawatmal. Both of them had returned from Dubai. The number of cases in the state has reached 26. Following this, the state government has ordered the closure of all the government and municipal schools. These schools will remain closed till the 31st of March. At the same time, all religious, political, educational and sports-related functions have been postponed.
