Burkina Faso: – 23 people were killed in a terrorist attack on a Gold mine, in the Soam province of Burkina Faso. This is the fourth major terrorist attack in the Soam province, in the last three months. Earlier, in August, more than 30 soldiers had been killed in a terrorist attack on a military base, in the Soam province.

Incidents of terrorist attacks are consistently increasing in Mali, Niger followed by Burkina Faso, which are a part of the Sahel region of Africa. These attacks have been taking place despite the presence of the French military and the G5-Sahel Force, in the region. Therefore, a question mark is being raised on this military deployment.

Before this, military bases, rural areas and the units travelling through the forests, were being targeted. But now, the terrorists have indicated targeting the economy of Burkina Faso, by attacking the Gold mine.

The influence terrorist organisations began to increase in Burkina Faso, since 2015 and hundreds of terrorist attacks have been carried out, since then. More than a thousand have been killed in the attacks, and thousands are making preparations to leave the country. It has been reported that in this year itself, several thousand citizens have taken refuge in Ghana.

The western countries have taken serious cognisance of the increasing terror attacks, in the Sahel region and have published a travel advisory, for their citizens, to avoid travelling to Mali and Burkina Faso.
