US warns sanctioning Russian President and the Nord Stream project

Washington – The US Biden administration has adopted an aggressive stance due to rising Russian military activities at the Ukraine border. Moreover, US President Joe Biden has warned to impose sanctions against Russian President if Russia attacked Ukraine. The United States has also warned of imposing sanctions against the Nord Stream 2 pipeline project. Meanwhile, over 8,000 soldiers deployed by the United States in Europe have been alerted. Consequently, the United Kingdom has also indicated new deployments in the region.

US and Ukrainian analysts have claimed that Russia would launch an attack on Ukraine in February. The intelligence agencies from both countries have also issued similar warnings. Against this background, the United States and NATO member countries have initiated aggressive steps. The warning issued by the US President to impose sanctions against the Russian President is one of such actions. Along with sanctions against Putin, the United States has been warned that sanctions could be imposed even against the Nord Stream 2 pipeline project. As per reports received, the German government has approved this action.

The United States has adopted an aggressive stand against Russia even on the diplomatic level. It was revealed that some Russian embassy employees in the United States were deported back. Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov explained that the Russian employees were expelled before their tenure. The US Department of State has not reacted in the matter.

Meanwhile, 8,500 soldiers from the US military units deployed in Europe have been alerted. At the same time, preparations are underway to deploy additional 1,000 soldiers in the East European countries. Following the United States, even the United Kingdom has indicated deployment of their warships and fighter jets near Ukraine. NATO also has initiated military movements and NATO Chief Jens Stoltenberg has warned that the Red Line specified by Russia is unacceptable.
