terrorism-against-pak-afghan-2Islamabad: – Pakistan National Security Advisor (NSA) Moeed Yusuf accused ‘The terrorism in Afghanistan is still being used against Pakistan. Terrorist organisations are active in Afghanistan even today.’ 10 Pakistan soldiers were killed in an attack on the Pakistan military post in the Balochistan province. Pakistan agencies claimed that the terrorist organisations across the border were responsible for the attack. In this scenario, Pakistan’s NSA seems to have levelled a direct accusation against the Taliban that terrorist organisations are still active in Afghanistan.

Two days ago, terrorists attacked a security post of the Pakistan military at Kech in the Balochistan province. Pakistan agencies refused to reveal any information regarding the attack. But the Pakistani media are bringing the information to the Pakistan public. As per the media, 8 to 10 Pakistani soldiers were killed in the attack. The incidence of terrorist attacks on the Pakistan border has increased since the Taliban took control of Afghanistan. So far, only 2 to 4 soldiers were being killed in the skirmishes. This becomes the first instance of such a large number of Pakistani soldiers being killed in an attack. The media have claimed that the rebel organisations from Balochistan are responsible for the attack. At the same time, a possibility is being speculated that not ten but over 50 soldiers have been killed in the attack.

terrorism-against-pak-afghan-1In this scenario, Pakistan’s NSA, Moeed Yusuf, blamed Afghanistan for terrorism while briefing the parliamentary committee. Yusuf made a significant statement that the Pakistan government is not very optimistic regarding the Taliban government in Afghanistan. Whereas Yusuf accused that the ceasefire also was violated because of Tehreek-e-Taliban. The Pakistani NSA warned that anyone declaring war against Pakistan would be crushed with the steely resolve. Although he did not mention it directly, it is apparent that the Pakistani NSA has issued a warning to the Taliban in Afghanistan accused of providing a haven to the Tehreek-e-Taliban leaders.

Since the last few weeks, encounters have been reported between Pakistan and Afghanistan from the Durand Line. Taliban has announced that this line dividing the people from Afghanistan and Pakistan is unacceptable. Taliban had uprooted the barbed wire fence erected by Pakistan in Nangarhar, Kunar and Nimroz regions. Incidences of exchange of fire between the Taliban and Pakistan soldiers have also been reported. At the same time, some of the Taliban leaders also warned that the Imran Phan government in Pakistan is illegal and threatened to change Pakistan’s government.

Intense reactions have been received from Pakistan over this. Pakistan NSA Moeed Yusuf was scheduled to go on a special visit to Afghanistan to discuss this issue. But the visit of the Pakistani NSA was cancelled at the last moment. Pakistan agencies announced that this visit was cancelled due to bad weather in Afghanistan. But it has been exposed that the reasons for the cancellation of the visit were entirely different.

Strong protests had started in Afghanistan against the visit of the Pakistani NSA just before the visit. Yusuf’s visit had to be cancelled, given the intensity of the protests. Pakistan feared that otherwise, the discontent in the Afghan population against Pakistan would have been exposed to the international community. But some of the Pakistani journalists are accusing that the Taliban itself had a hand in the protests. Pakistan, which rejoiced after the Taliban came to power in Afghanistan, now feels that the Taliban is the biggest challenge it faces. The statements of the country’s NSA are proving the same thing.
