US ruling party faces bitter opposition from within over Iran nuclear dealFour days ago, the opposition party members from the Foreign Affairs Committee held a press conference against the Iran nuclear deal. Former US President Donald Trump had maintained pressure on Iran by imposing harsh sanctions. Republican leader Andy Barr criticised that the stand of the Biden administration is wrong, promoting a bad nuclear deal. Within a few hours of this opposition by the Republican party, voices against the Iran nuclear deal from within the party have also intensified. 18 Democrat party members have openly opposed the Biden moves for the Iran nuclear deal. Senators Josh Gottheimer, Ellen Luria, Donald Norcross, Dean Phillips and Juan Vargas, held a press conference to oppose the Iran nuclear deal.

In contrast, 13 other Democrat lawmakers registered their protests in writing. During the negotiations in Vienna, Iran had demanded to omit the Revolutionary Guards, the unit of the Iranian military, from the list of terrorist organisations. As per reports, the Biden administration is preparing to fulfil the demand. The members of the Democrat party itself are expressing annoyance against President Biden. Gottheimer said that the omission of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards, considered the most ruthless unit of the Iranian military, from the list of terrorist organisations, will never be acceptable.

Ellen Luria said that the old nuclear deal did not stop the Iranian nuclear program. If the current deal also is not going to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons, it is not required. Although the number of Democrat party members opposed to the Iran deal is 18, it is being claimed that the number could grow further.

Analysts claim that senior Senators from the Democrat party are not happy with the Iran nuclear deal. Therefore, according to the US media, it won’t be easy to get the Iran Nuclear deal cleared in the US Senate and Congress.

Meanwhile, amid frantic moves by the Biden administration for the nuclear deal, it is being claimed that Iran has moved centrifuges from the Natanz nuclear project to Isfahan nuclear project. Besides, Natanz nuclear project is within the purview of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). Whereas the IAEA has omitted the Isfahan nuclear project from its inspection. Reports are being received that Iran has moved the centrifuges to Isfahan nuclear project by taking advantage of this.

This is one more issue posing a problem for the US President supporting the nuclear deal. At the same time, Middle East countries, including Israel, have gone against the United States on the Iran nuclear deal issue. This also has created huge pressure on the Biden administration. In this scenario, the opposition to the nuclear deal from within the ruling Democrat party has intensified the problems for the Biden administration.
