US-Israel differences emerge over Saudi cooperation

Jerusalem/Washington – Israeli-Saudi relations will improve, and cooperation will be established by March next year, Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen has claimed. However, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has stated that the future of Israel-Saudi cooperation is difficult. US State Secretary Blinken accused Israel of being responsible for this.

Moreover, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been trying to augment cooperation with Saudi Arabia under the Abraham Accords for the past six months after taking over the reins of Israel. Besides, PM Netanyahu had demanded that the United States should mediate this. However, the Biden administration ignored the demand, and after that, Israel kept the issue of the Abraham Accords aside. Israeli Foreign Minister Cohen had said that Israel only wanted to establish cooperation with Saudi. Despite this, the United States claimed that Israel-Saudi cooperation is impossible. US State Secretary Blinken stated that Israel’s actions in the West Bank would make cooperation with Saudi difficult.
