Ukraine conducts 8 drone strikes in Russian capital Moscow and 3 other provinces

Kyiv/Moscow – In the last 24 hours, Ukraine has carried out drone attacks in Belgorod, Crimea and Luhansk provinces, along with the Russian capital Moscow. It has come to light that the drone attack near the capital Moscow used a suicide drone with a US-made engine. However, Russia claims to have repelled both attacks in Crimea, and one person was said to have been injured in the attacks in Belgorod. Reports have surfaced that Ukraine began deploying counterattacks in Zaporizhzhia and Kherson provinces while these attacks were made.

Russia has been continuously launching attacks from Kharkiv in northeastern Ukraine to Odesa in the south for the past few weeks. At the same time, Russian forces are said to have captured 90% of Bakhmut City in Donbas. In addition, Russia has begun taking steps to gain control of towns like Chasiv Yar, Sloviansk, Avdiivka, and Marinka after Bakhmut. There were claims that Ukraine had delayed its counterattack plans due to increasingly aggressive attacks from Russia.

Against this backdrop, Ukraine’s drone strikes in Russia and preparations in Zaporizhzhia and Kherson provinces, become noteworthy. Ukraine launched a drone attack in the Sevastopol area of the Crimea region at around 4:45 am on Monday. Furthermore, the local authorities informed that the Russian Air Force shot down one of these drones, and the other exploded. Photographs of the fire in Sevastopol due to this explosion have surfaced. However, the Defence Ministry has claimed that the drone attack did not cause any damage to the Russian base or the Navy.

On Monday, a drone was found to have been shot down in a forest in Noginsk, 30 km from the capital Moscow. The drone had M112-type explosives weighing around 17 kg. Officials informed that the weight of this suicide drone from Ukraine was about 100 kg, and it had a US-made engine. The drone’s range was estimated to be around 800 to 1000 km, and it was believed that it may have crashed in the forest as it ran out of fuel. Previously, Ukraine had even attempted to launch a drone attack in Moscow’s capital.

Local media informed of four incidents of drone strikes that came to the fore in Belgorod province, which borders Ukraine. The attack injured one person. It has also come to the fore that a drone attack occurred on a gas station in the town of Rovenky in the Russian-held Luhansk province. Photographs of the fuel tank completely engulfed in flames in this attack were also released.

Meanwhile, Ukraine has begun taking steps towards its counteroffensive in Zaporizhzhia and Kherson. Russian officials informed that Ukraine deployed nearly 10,000 soldiers in the Huliaipole area of Zaporizhzhia and has assembled tanks, rocket systems, guns, armoured vehicles and missiles. The officials claimed that it could be a preparation towards the operation for clearing the path leading to the Azov Sea. The Ukrainian Army was also said to have succeeded in entering a small area west of the Dnipro River in Kherson province.
