Questions like ‘The Galwan Valley Conflict occurred in Indian territory or Chinese?’, ‘If the conflict was in Chinese territory, then why were the Indian soldiers in that area?’ were being asked by some people. Questions like, ‘China must not have encroached on Indian land, where did the encroachment happen?’ were also raised. Former Army Chief General VK Singh answered all these queries as decided during the discussions between the senior officials from the two countries Chinese military was supposed to withdraw. General VK Singh said that on 15th of June, a unit of Indian soldiers went to inquire as to why the Chinese soldiers did not withdraw from the area.

General VK Singh informed ‘Meanwhile, the tent of the Chinese soldiers suddenly caught fire and a dreadful fight broke out. Chinese soldiers attacked the Indian soldiers with iron rods and barbed wires used in fencing.  Whereas, the Indian soldiers were fighting with hands and stones. Militaries of both the countries have been barred from using bullets on this border, or else there would have been a commotion in the area. The soldiers involved in the brawl called for reinforcements. The Chinese soldiers reached earlier than the Indian soldiers. 20 Indian soldiers were killed, whereas China who started the fight, lost 43 soldiers, in the fight that followed.

China is not revealing the number of soldiers killed in the fight. But India has already honoured the martyrs. The former Chief of Staff pointed to this difference in the attitude of the two countries. In 1959, China had given India, a map of areas claimed by it. Accordingly, Chinese soldiers regularly patrol these deserted areas. Many times, patrols of Indian and Chinese soldiers confront each other. But there were no fights between them. But these fights started since the last 5-6 years as the Indian soldiers started stopping the Chinese soldiers. General VK Singh said that this is the main reason for China getting upset. The former Chief of Staff also targeted Chinese President Xi Jinping, without directly naming him, saying that the border dispute has flared up because of the extreme ambitions of one person.

But this is not India from 1962. General VK Singh warned China, saying in 2020, the Indian military has all the necessary resources and the Indian leadership also is strong. The foreign military analysts and statesmen also are concluding that India will dominate China in a real war. If one takes into consideration the capabilities, experience and skill of the Indian military, the Chinese military who have not fought a battle in ages will not be able to face the Indian onslaught. But China is an expert in the media war. Using its skills in that, China is trying to create a façade that it has successfully pressurised India. The former military officials are proudly saying that the Chinese media war is proving ineffective and the Indian soldiers have completely deflated the Chinese media war, with their gallant retaliation against the Chinese soldiers in the Galwan Valley.
