Situation along LAC is stable but unpredictable: Army chief General Manoj PandeTensions between India and China have escalated since China attempted an invasion of the Tawang territory on 9th December. The Indian Army and the political establishment have warned China that India will not tolerate any change in the status quo of the LAC. Subsequently, China took a step back and opted to resolve the issue through negotiations. India has made it clear that they will observe actions, not words. At the international level, India’s Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar is making it clear that the relations between India and China are not smooth. On the contrary, China is trying to create an illusion at the international level that there is no tension with India.

In such a scenario, Army chief General Manoj Pandey informed the countrymen about the situation on the Chinese border. Speaking to the media, General Pandey explained that the situation on the LAC is currently stable, but there is an atmosphere of uncertainty. He said the Indian Army had adopted an aggressive posture, and troops were prepared and ready to face any situation. Stating that the Indian Army’s capabilities are at a high level, the Army chief pointed out that India has also deployed enough troops along the LAC to combat China’s deployment.

Negotiations at military and diplomatic levels are going on to reduce the tensions along the LAC. Out of the seven disputed points, five points have been resolved. General Manoj Pandey assured that the strategic deployment and necessary preparations were completed. Apparently, the Chinese troops could not stand the harsh winters in the Ladakh region of the LAC. With this background, the statement of the Army chief is quite significant.

The world has seen the border dispute between India and China, which escalated tensions. Major countries have acknowledged a strong and befitting response given by the Indian Army against Chinese aggression. It exposed the fact that China’s army was unprofessional and lacked preparedness. Other countries threatened by China have gathered confidence. A few weeks ago, a video of Indian soldiers beating up Chinese soldiers who tried to infiltrate the LAC was released. Taiwanese news channels mocked the Chinese military using this video. At the same time, Taiwan demanded India train their soldiers.
