Indian Armed Forces and Chinese PLA troops clash at Tawang LAC in Arunachal PradeshOn December 9th, the Chinese PLA troops tried to intrude into the Indian territory and was intercepted by the Indian Armed Forces. Additional forces from the Indian and Chinese sides reached the place leading to a clash which resulted in injuries for soldiers from both sides. However, it is reported that Chinese forces suffered the most injuries. The Chinese PLA troops was not expecting such a strong response from the Indian Armed Forces. Hence, before the clash escalated, it decided to retreat, as informed by the media.

About the conflict, the Indian Armed Forces informed that the soldiers of both countries had withdrawn from where the clashes took place. After that, a flag meeting of the military officers of both countries was also held, and the Indian Armed Forces said that the situation here was under control. Also, the Army has claimed that the clash occurred due to different interpretations and understandings of both countries regarding the LAC. There is no official response from China. But after the conflict of Galwan, accusations have started that the Chinese PLA troops has once again tried to provoke India in Tawang. The former Indian military officers are pointing out that the Chinese PLA troops’ attempt to infiltrate is impossible without orders from their superiors.

Tawang’s LAC is not patrolled during December. However, China deliberately sent its troops to Tawang under the pretext of patrolling to infiltrate India when the LAC was unguarded. But the Indian Armed Forces, which was keeping a close eye on the movements of the Chinese PLA troops at the LAC, foiled this plan. Former army officers praised the Indian soldiers for pushing back the Chinese soldiers and not allowing any intrusion into our territory, which shows the vigilance and toughness of the Indian Armed Forces. The former military officers have referred to China as a treacherous country.

A few days ago, a joint military exercise was conducted by the Indian and US Army in the area near the LSG. China objected to this joint military exercise and recalled the border agreements signed between India and China. China has accused the India-US joint military exercise of violating the agreements. Also, China had warned that the US should not interfere in the border dispute issues between India and China. India responded by stating that India had not given China the right to decide with whom India should hold war exercises.

Therefore, India had warned that China could not object to this war exercise. Also, the Ministry of External Affairs of India pointed out that military exercise is not a violation of border agreements with China. Also, India’s Ministry of External Affairs warned that only China, which accuses India of violating the border agreement, should respect these agreements more.

Some strategic analysts claim that India’s joint military exercises with the US could be the reason behind China’s incursion into Tawang. Because it is seen that China is extremely upset by this war exercise, some former military officers and analysts have said that the internal situation in China is the reason behind this incursion. With its zero covid policy, China has imprisoned its citizens at home. The citizens are agitated and protesting the Communist regime in many cities, including the capital Beijing. Claims are made that the anti-government demonstrations are unprecedented in China and are shaking the Chinese regime. International analysts have already concluded that China can trigger border disputes with India and other neighbouring countries to divert public attention from this. Indian analysts are also making similar accusations against China after the infiltration attempt in Tawang. The US think tanks and analysts also concluded that China would once again intrude into India’s border areas.
