Saudi Arabia and UAE shut embassies in Afghanistan after IS threat

Kabul: Saudi Arabia and UAE have closed their embassies in Afghanistan in the wake of threats by IS terrorists. Besides, there have been reports that Saudi has shifted its ambassadors, diplomatic officers and staff to Pakistan. There have also been claims that Pakistan and Turkey have already closed their embassies.

The US claims that the Taliban has failed to prevent terrorist attacks of IS. The issue was raised prominently after the IS attack on a Chinese hotel in the capital of Kabul. Meanwhile, IS threatened to car bomb the Saudi embassy last week. After this, Saudi Arabia closed its embassy in Kabul. Earlier, the UAE also had locked down its embassy in Kabul.

Moreover, embassies of India, Russia, China, Qatar, Iran and Central Asian countries are still open in Kabul.
