Russian fighter jets carry out airstrikes on terrorist bases in Syria

Beirut/Moscow: Russia has intensified its action against terrorist locations in Syria. A few hours ago, Russian fighter jets launched fierce attacks in the Latakia province in eastern Syria. Ceasefire violations were being observed from this area for the last few days. It is claimed that the Russian attacks were because of these violations. Meanwhile, reports of a Russian helicopter patrolling in Syria, having to land in an emergency, are also being received.

As per the information given by the UK-based human rights organisation. The Russian fighter jets launched at least 130 strikes in this region. 21 terrorists were killed in these strikes. The Russian fighter jets completed this action in 24 hours. Eight soldiers were killed in the IS attack on the Syrian military. Thereafter, Russia had launched these attacks.

After a week, Russia is again accusing that the terrorist organisations are violating the ceasefire in the Idlib, Latakia, Hama and Aleppo provinces. As per the information given by the Russian defence ministry, terrorists have violated the ceasefire 24 times. Russian fighter jets launched fierce airstrikes to retaliate against these ceasefire violations. Russia said that the action was taken against the terrorist organisations ‘Turkestan Islamic Party’ and Hayat Tahrir al-Sham.

But within a few hours of the Russian action, a Russian ‘MI-35’ helicopter reportedly had to make an emergency landing in the Al-Hasakah province. The reason behind the landing has not been revealed. But a few days ago, another Russian helicopter had met with an accident.

Meanwhile, ‘Hayat Tahrir al-Sham’ is known to be an Al-Qaeda affiliated terrorist organisation. Turkey had declared this organisation as a terrorist organisation two years ago. But it had been accused last year that this organisation was secretly assisting Turkey in northern Syria.
