Russia willing to mediate between Saudi and Iran: Mikhail Bogdanov

Moscow: The differences that have emerged between Iran and Saudi Arabia over the last few days can be resolved through constructive negotiations. Russia was willing to mediate dialogue between Iran and Saudi Arabia, Russian special envoy Mikhail Bogdanov announced. The Russian special envoy also clarified that Russia was making efforts to resolve other issues in the Middle East as well, including Iran. Just a few days ago, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that Russia would be taking an important stand for the security of the countries in the Middle East.

Iran has accused a news agency based out of London of receiving funding from Saudi funding is key for sparking protests in Iran. A leading US daily claimed that Iran was preparing to launch attacks on an important location in Saudi Arabia soon. The newspaper claimed that the Saudi intelligence agency shared this information with the United States. Saudi has officially not reacted to Iran’s allegations nor the report published by the US daily. However, recent events have escalated tensions in the Middle East.

In this scenario, Russia has taken the initiative to resolve the disputes between Iran and Saudi Arabia. Mikhail Bogdanov, appointed by Russian President Vladimir Putin as the special envoy for the Middle East and African countries, indicated that Russia would be willing to mediate between Iran and Saudi. Bogdanov claimed that the dispute between these two countries could be resolved through comprehensive discussions. The special envoy said that Russia was in contact with these allies and expressed confidence that the dispute would soon be resolved.

Meanwhile, both Saudi Arabia and Iran are leading producers of fuel. Russia has established friendly relations with Saudi and Iran over the last few years. But the tension between these two countries can destabilize the Middle East, particularly the Persian Gulf region. The world has already witnessed the effects of such tensions on the prices of fuel in the global market. The fuel prices have been highly inflated in the last few months. In this scenario, the Russian initiative to mediate between Saudi and Iran becomes extremely important.
