Russia to strengthen cooperation with Arab nations for regional security

Moscow/ Algiers: The cooperation between Russia and the Arab nations is increasing as tensions between the US and the Arab nations have risen over the issue of fuel production cuts. Highlighting the issue of regional security, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that he would strengthen cooperation with Arab nations. For this purpose, the Russian President indicated establishing a multinational system with the participation of the Middle East and North African countries.

The 31st meeting of the Arab League started on Tuesday in Algiers, the capital of Algeria in North Africa. Addressing the meeting through virtual means, Russian President Vladimir Putin highlighted the cooperation with the Arab nations. President Putin said Russia would try to strengthen cooperation with the 22-nation Arab League. The Russian President claimed that this cooperation is necessary for regional and global security.

President Putin expressed his belief that the cooperation between Russia and the Arab nations can solve the military and political issues facing the Middle East and North African countries. The Russian President said that issues ranging from the crisis in Syria and Libya to the conflict in Yemen and the Israel-Palestine conflict can be resolved based on international norms and preserving sovereignty and regional security.

Meanwhile, relations with the United States, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE have strained after the decision to cut fuel production at the OPEC Plus meeting. Iraq, Qatar, Bahrain and other countries supported Saudi Arabia after the US blamed Saudi Arabia for this decision. Due to this, the discussion had started about the deteriorating relations between the United States and the Middle East. International analysts are pointing out that the relations between Russia and the Middle East increased during this period. Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed of UAE paid a special visit to Russia and met President Putin.
