London – ‘The frantic efforts by Russia and China to dominate the field of artificial intelligence will change the geopolitical equations in the next ten years. Not only that, but the ambition of both countries to take the lead in quantum computing, synthetic biology and the investments that these countries are making for it is worrisome. This danger needs to be addressed by the democratic forces,’ said Richard Moore, head of the British intelligence agency MI6.
For the first time, Richard Moore, the head of MI6, will present his stand to the British government and security agencies. Earlier, some of the points in Moore’s speech were released by the British government on Monday. Moore has suggested major changes in the operating methods of the British intelligence agencies. At the same time, Moore said that the British intelligence agencies must break the old barriers to adopt the latest technologies.
Moore noted that the United Kingdom lags far behind China and Russia in artificial intelligence (AI). Earlier, it was revealed that China and Russia were trying hard to dominate the field of AI. The US agencies and military analysts had warned that the United States and the United Kingdom are lagging far behind in this field. Richard Moore has repeated the same warning.
‘Advances in technology over the next decade will outpace the advances in the technology of the last century. As a society, we have to accept this fact and its geopolitical implications. MI6 needs to take this very seriously,’ Moore said.
To make progress in AI, quantum computing, synthetic biology, MI6 will need to increase its collaboration with other companies in this field. Moore was forthright in saying that the ties with the government companies will have to be severed for this purpose. “Like the James Bond Hollywood movie, the MI6 relies on its systems for technological advancement, so the British intelligence system has not evolved,” Moore said.
The MI6 chief warned that if an equivalent effort is not put in the field of AI and other technologies, China and Russia will bring another revolution, even in the espionage sector.
