Istanbul: Russian President Vladimir Putin has warned that he is ready for peace talks if Ukraine accepts that it has lost territory in the conflict with Russia. Turkish President Recep Erdogan had a phone conversation with the Russian President on Thursday. At this time, Erdogan told the Russian President that ceasefire was necessary for peace talks.
Speaking on Erdogan’s role, Putin presented his demand that Russia was ready to negotiate seriously with Ukraine. However, this would be possible only if Ukraine accepts that it has lost territory, Putin said. Besides, Russia has announced that it has annexed 
four regions of Ukraine and claims to be a part of Russia.
Turkish President Erdogan has been consistently trying to be a mediator in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine for the past year. He had played an important role in the Grain Deal for transporting food grains and other products in Ukraine.
