Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to visit Mongolia and Japan

New Delhi: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is embarking on a visit to Mongolia and Japan. The main objective of the visit is said to be increasing defence cooperation with these countries. Both these countries are very important geographically and strategically for China. Therefore, every analyst is focusing on the Indian Defence Minister’s visit to these countries. During his Japan visit, the defence minister will participate in the ‘Two Plus Two’ talks. This is significant against the background of the developments in the Taiwanese Gulf.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to visit Mongolia and JapanDefence Minister Rajnath Singh will reach Mongolia on Monday for the first leg of his visit. He will proceed to Japan after completing the visit here on the 7th of September. The defence minister will be in Japan on the 8th and 9th of September. Two Plus Two talks will be held during this visit, meaning discussions between the Defence and Foreign Ministers of both countries. Rajnath Singh will be increasing defence and strategic cooperation with Japan and Mongolia.

Before the Two Plus Two talks, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida announced an investment of 5 trillion Yen (Rs 3 billion 200 million) in India over the next five years. Japan might initiate steps to develop cooperation on the economic and military level with India in the Two Plus Two talks. The situation in the Taiwanese Gulf has become alarming due to the aggressive Chinese activities, which have also increased the Chinese threat to Japan. In this scenario, talks between India and Japan become strategically important.
