Public discontent erupts in Iraq - protestors take control of the parliament - raise slogans against Iranian interferenceMoreover, the party of Muqtada Al-Sadr, a religious leader in Iraq, won the maximum 73 seats in the elections held in Iraq last year. Sadr’s party had staked a claim to form the government with support from local groups. But as the Iran supporter political groups dismissed the claim of Muqtada Al-Sadr’s party, instability has continued in Iraq for the last ten months. Mustafa Al-Kadhimi from Sadr’s party had been chosen as the Prime Minister. But as the Iran supporter groups have a stronger influence in Iraq, the leadership of Kadhimi is being repeatedly rocked. Iran supporter groups accused Kadhimi is an agent of the United States. Moreover, the Iran supporter groups have announced the name of Mohammed Al-Sudani for Prime Minister.

Accusing that Iran had recommended the name of Sudani, thousands of Sadr supporters infiltrated the high-security Green Zone in Iraq. Initially, security personnel were able to stop the protestors. But the security forces fell short in front of a crowd of thousands. The protestors took control of the Iraqi parliament and reports of attacks on the Iran supporter leaders are also being received.

Public discontent erupts in Iraq - protestors take control of the parliament - raise slogans against Iranian interferenceSome protestors shouted strong slogans against Iran from the premises of the parliament and denounced Iran. Protests were held outside the embassy of Turkey, which has created bases in northern Iraq and is attacking Kurdistan. Prime Minister Kadhimi and Muqtada Al-Sadr instructed the protestors to vacate the parliament. It is claimed that the intensity of the protests in the Green Zone reduced after that. But according to analysts in the Middle East, these protests are a warning for Iran.

Meanwhile, although Iraq is an oil-rich country, political stability could not be established in the country. The population is bitterly against the influence of the Iran-affiliated political parties on governance. Muqtada Al-Sadr had warned that the political interference of Iran and the United States would not be tolerated. The Iraqi population ensured victory on a significant number of seats for Al-Sadr’s party in the elections held in the last year. But the Iran-affiliated political groups have made provisions that the party of Al-Sadr is not able to form the government. Given this, the discontent in the Iraqi population has peaked and the attack on the parliament demonstrates the intensity of the public sentiment.
