Preliminary talks between India and Taliban make Pakistan restlessPakistan had assumed that its golden era would begin after the Taliban regime was established in Afghanistan. Thus, there was an uproar in Pakistan after Kabul’s capital fell to the Taliban. But now, Pakistan’s relations with the Taliban are not streamlined. On the contrary, clashes have erupted along the Durand Line between Afghanistan and Pakistan. Moreover, some of the Pakistani demands seem to have been rejected by the Taliban. At the same time, it is becoming clear to the world that the Taliban is vying to improve relations with India.

India should open its embassy in Afghanistan. The Taliban had also proposed launching that India should restart its development project in Afghanistan. At the same time, the Taliban regime had to take note of India’s announcement that it would supply about 50,000 metric tons of wheat to the starving Afghans. Analysts and journalists in Pakistan also claim that India has turned the Taliban on its side by supplying corona vaccines and drugs. The Indian delegation had visited Afghanistan to see if the assistance provided by India to the Afghan people had reached the Afghans properly.

The Taliban welcomed the delegation led by Indian diplomat JP Singh in Afghanistan. The Taliban had said that the talks could be the beginning of excellent relations with India. After this, in an interview given to an Indian news channel, the statement made by the Taliban’s Defence Minister Mulla Yaqoob made headlines. Mulla Yakub had said that there was no problem in sending Afghan military officers to India for training.

As soon as it comes to the Taliban trying to establish relations with India, Pakistan seems to be panicking. Pakistan’s foreign ministry spokesman Asim Iftikhar said no country should play a destructive role in Afghanistan. Pakistan expects a peaceful, stable and prosperous Afghanistan. Pakistan’s foreign ministry has indirectly accused India of playing a negative role in Afghanistan. It is unlikely that this will get any support from anyone. On the contrary, many countries agree that Pakistan has played a negative role in Afghanistan so far.

What has been expected of Pakistan in Afghanistan has not happened since the rise of the Taliban. On the contrary, developments are taking place in Afghanistan that add to Pakistan’s concerns. Analysts in Pakistan fear that India will use the Taliban to challenge Pakistan in the near future.
