Islamabad: Another disaster looms after the terrible floods in Pakistan. The World Health Organisation (WHO) has warned that there will be a wave of diseases in Pakistan, and it will claim many lives. The main reason is that Pakistan does not have the necessary stock of medicines and medical facilities to contain the epidemic. Consequently, the media of Pakistan is expressing concern that the situation of our country will become dire in the coming time. The United Nations stated that this flood had terribly hit 16 million children, and more than three million children need immediate attention.

Pakistan faces a dreadful crisis of a shortage of medicines and food while epidemics are spreading after the floodMore than 1,500 people have died in the floods in Pakistan so far. A third of the area was submerged under flood waters. Due to this, Pakistan faces not one but many crises simultaneously. The flood water has begun to recede, and there is a high possibility of disease outbreaks. The media of Pakistan have been saying that Pakistan suffers from food shortage, and the condition of the flood victims has become miserable. The inadequate stock of medicines is another crisis faced by Pakistan, and Pakistan has been pushing the day in the hope that it will get help from the international level to get the country out of this.

The water supply to Pakistan has been disrupted. Citizens here have been getting dirty water. Due to this fear of spreading diseases like cholera, the head of WHO, Dr Tedros Ghebreyesus, expressed.

Water puddles have formed in places in Pakistan. Ghebresus has warned that this may breed mosquitoes and increase the incidence of malaria and dengue in Pakistan. Ghebresus drew attention to the fact that pregnant women in Pakistan are giving birth to children in highly unhygienic conditions.

More than two thousand health centres have gone underwater in this flood in Pakistan. Due to this, there have been limitations even on the health workers of Pakistan. In such a situation, the United Nations and some NGOs have set up temporary health centres in Pakistan where patients are being treated.

Pakistan faces a dreadful crisis of a shortage of medicines and food while epidemics are spreading after the floodMeanwhile, 1.6 crore children have been hit by this flood in Pakistan. More than three million of these children should be provided with immediate access to essential medicines, the United Nations has said. In Sindh province, 528 children were killed in this flood. The UN has further clarified that children who were already malnourished; now suffer from various diseases. The UN has expressed the fear that a large number of children will be killed in Pakistan if international cooperation is not received in time.

But, the internal politics of Pakistan has not ended even in such a situation. A neighbouring country like India can easily supply food grains and medicines to Pakistan if demanded. But Pakistan has not made this demand to India even when its people are starved. When there was a shortage of tomatoes in Pakistan, videos of some people in the country throwing tomatoes sent by Iran on the streets went viral. Therefore, the possibility of Pakistan welcoming Indian assistance likewise cannot be ruled out.

Indian analysts say that India should not assist unless this country, which has such a deeply rooted poisonous ideology, demands it. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had expressed regret after the floods in Pakistan. After that, some intellectuals and journalists in Pakistan raised the demand that India should help their country. But Pakistan has once again shown that it cannot accept this aid.

Anti-India Pakistani analysts believe that allies of Pakistan in China and the Gulf region will provide substantial assistance and get them out of this crisis. But China has turned its back on Pakistan in such a difficult situation, and the Gulf countries have also grown tired of repeatedly assisting Pakistan.

Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed his regret saying that they have to beg from other countries. Moreover, the leaders of the opposition party criticise what good will do for the country this Prime Minister, who calls himself a beggar. Due to this, sharp political differences along with flood and flood-related problems with shortage of food grains and medicines have also become challenging problems facing Pakistan. This has made it impossible for the government of Pakistan to get the necessary assistance from India. The people of Pakistan face dire consequences of this. Some responsible analysts have warned that this country will not be able to sustain itself for long.
