Pakistan army’s counter terrorism base captured by Tehreek – 10 jawans kept hostage for demands raised

counter terrorismIslamabad – Tahreek-e- Taliban has once again humiliated the Pakistan army by capturing a base of Pakistan army responsible for counter terrorism in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province and are holding jawans hostage including officer of Major rank. Tahreek released a video and demanded helicopters for safe release of their comrades from custody of Pakistan.

Last month, the cease-fire between Pakistan and Tahreek ended and since then Tehreek has increased its attacks on Pakistan Army and ISI agents in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Waziristan province. On Sunday night, Pakistan Army base in Banu Cantonment area of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa was captured by Tahreek terrorists. Eight jawans of the Pakistan Army were killed in the clash.

Journalists and citizen of Pakistan are criticizing the army, which is projected as number one in the world but cannot protect its own military base from terrorists. Pakistani journalists are expressing displeasure on Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif for finding time to wish for Argentina’s football team but not to talk about the hostage situation of his own soldiers.

Meanwhile, the head of Tahreek, Noor Wali Mehsud has announced that they are attacking the Pakistan Army from within Pakistan and rejected the claim of Pakistan that they are operating and launching attacks from Afghanistan. He also threatened the US against using drones targeting Tahreek leaders of Tahreek like in the case of Al Qaeda chief Ayman Al Zawahiri.
