More than 100 arrested for Halloween violence in France

Paris: A young man from the Grenoble city of France posted a message on the social media on 27^th of October. The message said that the Halloween night on 31^st of October is to ‘Purge’ (Finish) the police. There were thousands of responses in a short while and endorsed the youth’s viewpoint. The French police took this seriously and deployed tight security in Paris and other important cities. Still, there were incidents of damaging the property, arson, looting and rioting on the Halloween night.

More than 100 people have been detained for this. The youth responsible for posting the inciting message also has been arrested. As per the young man’s admission, he had posted this message just for fun, and he did not realise that there could be this kind of an effect of his message. But the French police are not prepared to believe him, Halloween violence is not restricted only to France. There were incidents of violence in other European countries also. The media have therefore warned that this could not be ignored in the future.

The concept of all crimes pardoned for one night and all criminal activities get legal protection for that night was presented in the movie called Purge. Such films are being released in Hollywood over the last few years. There are television serials too on these subjects. They seem to be inspiring a lot of people. Especially the 31^st October night celebrated with Halloween parties is getting converted into Purge nights. The Halloween Parties which were private affairs is becoming a night of open violence.

Some people organise Halloween parties for fun. These parties are arranged only on the night of 31^st October. This was started in the United States and Mexico. On this night people were costumes and makeup to look like Ghosts, Demons, witches and people following black magic. Although most of the people participating in this are doing it just for fun, it is becoming a major problem now.

The Halloween night is becoming a ritual around the world. People are made to think that all the crimes on this night are pardoned. There are attempts to create this culture and the incidents in Paris only confirm that this culture is getting massive support. Till the 1990’s decade, people in France did not know what Halloween was. But with the influence of US movies and TV serials, this culture slowly developed in France and the other European countries. As per the media, mow this culture is quite deep-rooted in the society.

There is a market created for Halloween. Therefore, the shopkeepers have started selling all different kinds of crazy and scary looking implements like masks, gowns, dresses etc. The younger generation is seen to be enthusiastically buying this. The media in France have claimed that increasing demand for these things is a matter of concern is what has been shown by the violence this year. Press in the other European countries also has expressed interest over the issue.

The growing misconception that all the crimes on Halloween night are pardoned among the youth is the most dangerous thing. This not only challenges law and order but also challenges the cultural values and goodness. This gives rise to an ideology of anarchy getting happiness in destruction and devastation which was demonstrated in France.

Halloween night was well celebrated in the European countries the United Kingdom, Ireland and Switzerland. Untoward incidents have been reported there too. The Halloween night serves the purpose to glorify and promote banned, wrong and illegal things like black and inauspicious knowledge, violence. Getting the youth involved in it and spreading a tendency of anarchy in them is becoming the object of the Halloween night. This destructiveness does not remain limited only to the Halloween night, but the new year celebrations in France as also the Basil day celebrated in France even has started becoming like the Halloween night. As per the French agencies, the violence is increasing on these days.

Some responsible news agencies have appealed that Halloween parties have not remained only for enjoyment and please note this and take some actions against them. No one believing in good values cannot afford to ignore the growing influence and violence of these Halloween parties every year.

Halloween has declared a war against all the right things, pure motives and ethical behaviour and the Halloween supporters are demonstrating that they are winning on every Halloween night. The people participating in this innocently and for fun has not realised these facts. But as of now, the Halloween promoters seem to be succeeding in spreading the wrong things and destruction among the youth.
