Chinese President Xi Jinping has lost credibility due to rising Coronavirus

Beijing: The extent of corona infection in China is increasing daily, and the ruling communist regime is making desperate efforts to cover it up. President Xi Jinping urged the Chinese people to overcome difficult situations and challenges in his New Year’s Eve speech. However, analysts claim that Xi Jinping’s statement has failed to comfort the public and the credibility of his leadership has declined. Analysts have pointed out that the claim that Chinese systems and models are the best in the world has raised serious questions. Meanwhile, the number of countries imposing restrictions on Chinese travellers is gradually increasing and countries like the United Kingdom, France, Spain, Australia and Canada have also been included in it.

Moreover, Chinese President Xi Jinping has implemented the ‘Zero Covid Policy’ to combat the corona infection. Despite frequent questioning of its success, it was supported by President Xi Jinping and the Communist regime. Last year, even as voices of displeasure rose from Shanghai and other major cities, Xi ordered the implementation of his policy in aggressive terms. However, an incident in Xinjiang sharply raised the Chinese people’s discontent with this policy. Major Chinese cities saw people take to the streets in large numbers.

Therefore, at the beginning of December, China decided to relax the ‘Zero Covid Policy’ imposed to prevent the spread of Corona. After that, most of the restrictions in China were lifted. After the relaxation of the restrictions, the corona infection in China has started to increase again. The number of corona patients in China is increasing at a rapid pace and photographs of long queues in hospitals and burial grounds are being published. Various media have claimed that one to five thousand people are dying in China daily due to Corona.

During this period, President Xi Jinping was expected to relieve the Chinese people, visit the cities to inspect the situation, and take necessary measures. However, instead of giving proper information about the epidemic, the Communist regime of China has once again taken a cover-up role. Analysts claim that President Xi Jinping’s silence without addressing the Chinese people creates an atmosphere of resentment in China. Willy Lam, a Hong Kong-based analyst, claimed that Xi Jinping’s stance has damaged both – his reputation and authority. John Delury said that the credibility of both Xi Jinping and the Communist Party is shaken.

Meanwhile, the growing corona infection in China is being taken seriously internationally. The World Health Organization (WHO) has directed that Chinese organizations should provide data related to Corona. New countries have been added to the list of countries forcing Chinese travellers to undergo tests associated with Corona. Last week, leading countries, including the US, Japan, Italy and India, imposed restrictions on Chinese travellers. Besides, the United Kingdom, France, Spain, Australia and Canada have also made testing mandatory for Chinese passengers arriving by air. Chinese media has expressed displeasure over this decision taken by the international community.
