Israel warns Syria of attack if it smuggles ammunition from Iran

Tel Aviv: Over the past few months, Israel has launched attacks on Iranian-affiliated sites in Syria to disrupt arms smuggling. Therefore, it is claimed that Iran has stopped its activities in Syria. But Israel has warned that if Iran resumes arms smuggling in Syria soon, Israel will also intensify its attacks against Syria.

Accordingly, Israel targeted Iranian locations in Syria. But last month, Russia took notice of the attack on Damascus and Tartus, the capital of Syria. There is a Russian army base in Tartus. Iran’s weapons depot was located some distance from this base. After Israel targeted Sadar Kothara, Russia expressed concern over this.

Since then, Israel has not launched an attack in Syria for the past month. But Israeli leaders and military officials are warning that if Iran smuggles weapons into Syria in the near future, Israel will have to launch airstrikes.

Meanwhile, a US newspaper has claimed that Russia has also withdrawn its ‘S-300’ air defence system from Syria. Just a few weeks ago, Russia took out the S-300 from Syria’s Masyaf and deployed it to the port of Tartus. Now, a US newspaper has claimed that Russia has dispatched the said air defence system to a port near Crimea.
